New Audi A5 Coupe and Cabriolet for 2025: Entering the Two-Door Market

The aging B9 A4 is being replaced by the all-new Audi A5 series. The four-ring brand decided to use even numbers for future EVs and odd numbers for its new ICE-powered vehicles. As a result, the A4’s combustion engine could no longer be accommodated, and the A5 is now replacing it.

The 2025 Audi A5, which debuted in sedan and avant-body styles, is built on the MLB Evo’s revised PPC architecture. Now, the wheelbase is longer than the previous E60 BMW 5 Series Executive model, measuring 114.2 inches (2,900 mm).

Compared to the previous A4, Audi’s new premium compact low-slung family has a more aggressive shape and, dare we say, an improved aesthetic. With a huge panoramic display that combines a 14.5-inch infotainment system with an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, it has a tech-packed cockpit. The passenger has access to an advanced head-up display on the deck in addition to the optional 10.9-inch monitor.

The 2025 Audi A5 series strictly follows the ICE formula. It comes with a 2.0L gasoline-fed four-banger making 150 ps (148 hp/110 kW) in Europe and 204 ps (201 hp/150 kW) in the US; the former is FWD and the latter is AWD. There is also a revised turbodiesel with mild hybrid technology. The electric motor produces an additional 24 ps (24 hp/18 kW) in addition to the output and thrust ratings of 204 ps (201 hp/150 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft).

In addition to the standard A5, the four-ring brand unveiled the S5, which improves upon its predecessor by a somewhat hybrid 3.0L V6 producing 367 ps (362 hp/270 kW). Along with the Quattro AWD and DCT, Audi claims that the suspension and steering have also been updated. For a better driving experience, an optional adaptive suspension is being considered.

As mentioned earlier, the new Audi A5 family is available in two variants: an Avant (station wagon) and a sedan, which is essentially a five-door liftback. However, will coupe and cabriolet models join in? Although the automaker has not commented on the matter, major media sources speculate that these models will never use two doors again.
