The alloys, which are named S21-04 because they are a component of the Forged Series 21 and cost $2,400 each, are from the highly specialized portfolio of Miami, Florida-based Vossen. Are you interested there?
Not exactly – neither are we. We are discussing the C8 Chevrolet Corvette here, after all – a true blank canvas awaiting customization. So, the aftermarket industry is still busy experimenting with the Z06 while the rumor mill is attempting to sort through the many C8 prototypes that are being tested to determine which are the ZR1 and which are the electrified Zora.
The performance version of the current Corvette generation, the C8 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, was introduced in late 2021 as the next step up from the $68,300 Stingray. It is homologated for the 2023 model year. With a starting MSRP of $112,700 and a new naturally aspirated 5.5-liter LT6 flat-plane crank V8 that produces 670 horsepower at 8,400 rpm and 460 lb-ft (624 Nm) of torque at 6,300 rpm, it’s a huge leap forward indeed.
It’s the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated production V8 and reaches its redline at 8,600 rpm. It goes without saying that it serves as the basis for the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R race vehicle and is visually distinct from the C8 Corvette Stingray. Meanwhile, some might assume that it’s only optimal when the aftermarket industry has some degree of control over it. However, don’t just take it at our word – here’s another powerful example.
The kind folks at Miami Autosport Technic, a nearby car customization business that specializes in Vossen, were asked to create a striking yellow Chevrolet Corvette Z06 for summer, and the result is very simple but spectacular. The sports vehicle was expertly equipped with Vossen Forged Series 21 (S21-04) models in contrasting black, and as a result, it now sits close to the ground on standard Z06 coilovers. As always, it’s the little things that make the biggest impression – the C8 Z06 blends glossy black accents with summer yellow. Additionally, the staggered Vossen wheels perfectly match this low fitment, making the Corvette even more aggressive, but also “super chic” (as someone noted on social media) thanks to the striking contrast between the yellow brake calipers and the forged aftermarket alloy wheels.
