Indian stock markets concluded Wednesday's trading session on a subdued note after experiencing volatility throughout the day.

Initially, the indices rose in line with gains seen in the US and Asian markets, but later declined due to selling pressure in IT stocks.

However, demand remained strong for PSU Bank, Realty, and Media stocks.

The market exhibited positive breadth, with 1498 shares advancing and 1079 shares declining on the NSE.

The volatility index, "India VIX," decreased by 1.74% to 15.51 at the close.

Broader markets outperformed the main index, with the Nifty mid and small-cap indexes closing higher by 0.75% and 0.71% respectively.

The Sensex ended marginally lower by 34.10 points or 0.05% at 72152, while the Nifty index edged higher by 1.01 points to close at 21930.50. For more detailed market updates, click here
