At the 102nd Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 23, the all-new, all-electric, second-generation Acura ZDX Type S will make its pace car debut. So they believe it. Do you believe it too?
The first customer deliveries of single-motor and dual-motor variants of Acura’s recently unveiled ZDX, the company’s first premium all-electric SUV, began in early May. The 2024 Acura ZDX A-Spec and ZDX Type S arriving at dealerships nationwide are the performance brand’s first electric vehicles (EVs) with a range of up to 313 miles, DC fast charging, and a design very similar to General Motors’ Ultium vehicle architecture, which is currently powering vehicles like the Cadillac Lyriq, Chevrolet Equinox and Blazer EV and Honda Prologue.
In fact, the Prologue and Blazer EV have the same motor, but the Prologue and Cadillac Lyriq have the same steering, climate control, and door handles. The price, on the other hand, is in the premium segment. The MSRP for the A-Spec RWD with a single motor, the A-Spec AWD with two motors, and the Type S with 500 horsepower are $64,500, $68,500, and $73,500, respectively.
No one can say for sure whether the Acura ZDX will succeed in this ever-changing electric vehicle market.
