What if a dealer in Louisiana refuses to sell a Saleen Mustang S302 White Label for $31,750?

About ten years ago, Saleen launched three updated sixth-generation Mustangs in three different configurations. These included the flagship Black Label, the mid-spec Yellow Label, and the entry-level White Label. All had better power and torque numbers and were offered as coupes or convertibles.

They also had a lot of mechanical and aerodynamic upgrades, but nothing too noticeable. Saleen-tuned Mustangs have always intrigued me, and this particular vehicle does not disappoint. This specimen, which uses the S302 White Label specification, is from 2021. It was available at auction until it sold recently.

The Alexandria, Louisiana-based dealership that owns it turned down the top bid of $31,750, which may or may not have been the right decision. Although some Saleen-tuned S550 Mustangs have sold for exorbitant prices at auction, this one isn’t brand new – it’s got 26,000 miles on it.

Anyway, let’s check out the specs, starting with the exterior. The Twister Orange Metallic tri-coat color will catch your eye immediately, followed by black accents, rear window louvers, and possibly staggered-width 20″ wheels (in combination with Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 and General G-Max RS tires).

The updated bodywork also includes a unique taillight panel, performance hood vents, side skirts, an axial front grille, a rear wing with increased downforce, and a front fascia with an integrated splitter. There’s also an improved suspension system with Racecraft-specific-rate front and rear springs supplied by Saleen.

SYNC 3 touchscreen infotainment system with sat-nav, black leather seats with gray inserts, dual-zone automatic climate control, adaptive cruise control, a multifunction steering wheel with Alcantara grips and a red center stripe, Saleen-branded horn button and dial overlays, and a unique badge on the passenger side of the dashboard designating it The 302 White Label #35 interior is one of the highlights.

Performance-wise, the 5.0-liter V8 comes equipped with a high-performance exhaust system, a customized ECU (engine control unit), and a bespoke air filter. The ad claims this Mustang can produce 500 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque, all of which are sent to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential and a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Saleen claims the White Label S302 Mustang can only produce 475 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. Now here’s the deal. Still, the difference isn’t that big.

Of course, performance would be different if this were a Black Label or Yellow Label vehicle. The latter produces 630 lb-ft of torque and 760 horsepower, while the former produces 740 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque.
